Marti Echols, MEd. PhD.
Dean, College of Biomedical Sciences
Dr. Echols serves as the current Dean of the College of Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Echols received her MEd from Ashland University, and her PhD from Ohio University both located in Ohio. She served for 10 years as Assistant Dean & Chair of Medical Education at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of Nova Southeastern University, Ft Lauderdale. Before joining LU, she served as Associate Dean at the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education in Fort Smith. She has an extensive background in higher education, developing and establishing new study programs, as well as regional and programmatic accreditation.
She has several favorite teaching interests including: maximizing student learning through the use of learning styles, study strategies and test-taking skills, healthcare systems around the world, developing educational curriculum and assessment and practical uses for research methods and analytics.
Her research interests are in Interactive Education Models, Simulation Learning in Healthcare, Patient Communication Skills and Professionalism. Through the integration of her extensive experience and knowledge, she has been recognized nationally for her research and publications.
