Larkin University officially launched its highly anticipated eight-week Larkin University Summer Undergraduate Research Program (LUSRP) 2025 with an engaging and inspiring Orientation Day on June 9, 2025.
Coordinated by Dr. Aarajana Shrestha, the program welcomed 21 bright high school juniors/seniors and undergraduate students from across South Florida. These participants represent a wide range of institutions, including:
Miami Dade College
Franklin Academy (dual enrollment – Broward College)
Barry University
Florida A&M University
Florida International University
Tennessee State University
Florida Virtual High School
G. Holmes Braddock Senior High
Mater Academy Cutler Bay (dual enrollment – Miami Dade College)
Cypress Bay High School
These students will spend the summer exploring cutting-edge research in pharmaceutical, biomedical, clinical, and social and administrative sciences under the mentorship of 11 dedicated faculty members from across Larkin University’s colleges:

The orientation featured welcome remarks from Dr. Rudi H. Ettrich, President of Larkin University, and Dr. Subrata Deb, Dean of the College of Pharmacy. Both leaders emphasized the university’s commitment to hands-on education and the importance of fostering young scientific minds through experiential learning. They described LUSRP as a vital launchpad for academic and professional growth.

They also connected with their faculty mentors, who will guide them through their individual research projects throughout the summer.
Every Friday, participants will take part in Professional Development Sessions, aimed at helping them build essential skills for academic and career success.
The program will conclude with a Mini-Symposium on August 1, 2025, where students will present their research findings through oral and poster presentations.
