Twenty-Six High School Students from Fourteen South Florida Schools Participate in a Day of Career Exploration, Mentorship, and Hands-On Healthcare Experiences
MIAMI, FL — July 14, 2026 — Larkin University, in collaboration with Larkin Health System, welcomed 26 high school students representing 14 different high schools across South Florida for The Larkin Pathway: Summer Health Careers Program 2026. The one-day immersive program was designed to introduce students to healthcare careers and educational pathways in the health sciences through interactive learning, mentorship, and professional engagement.
The program provided participants with a unique opportunity to engage directly with healthcare educators, professionals, and current Larkin students. Through faculty panel discussions, an invited guest lecture, and networking sessions, students gained valuable insight into the diverse professions that contribute to today’s healthcare workforce.
A highlight of the program was the series of interactive hands-on experiences that allowed students to explore healthcare practice in a real-world learning environment. Participants engaged in pharmaceutical compounding activities, simulation laboratory demonstrations, nursing skills training, pharmacy practice activities, clinical dentistry experiences, physician assistant and medical education exercises. These sessions offered students a firsthand look at the knowledge, skills, and teamwork required across healthcare disciplines.
“The Larkin Pathway Program reflects our commitment to inspiring and preparing the next generation of healthcare leaders. By providing students with early exposure to healthcare careers and hands-on learning experiences, we hope to ignite their passion for service and lifelong learning.”— Dr. Jack J. Michel, Founder, Larkin University and Larkin Health System“Programs such as The Larkin Pathway help students better understand the many opportunities available within healthcare.
