Hours: By Appointment

Dr. Shawn Cannon is Associate Dean of Clinical experience for the Jacqueline Nichole Michel College of Osteopathic Medicine (LCOM). Dr. Cannon is a physician board-certified in Internal Medicine, Addiction Medicine, and Hospice & Palliative Medicine, and brings a deep passion for medical education and a commitment to fostering a diverse physician workforce.

Dr. Cannon’s academic journey began at the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by residency at Montefiore Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident in Social Internal Medicine. I also hold a Master’s degree in International Health Leadership from McGill University.

Most recently, Dr. Cannon served as the Founding Dean for the D’Youville University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he led the program to pre-accreditation and integrated social determinants of health into the curriculum. Previously, I was the Chief Academic Officer at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, where I established the Residency Program in Social Medicine and successfully transitioned all osteopathic programs to ACGME accreditation.

Dr. Cannon is a strong advocate for a holistic approach to medicine—addressing mind, body, and spirit—and looks forward to contributing to the Larkin University community.
